In the “blowing my own horn” category of things (which is something that I neither like doing, nor is it something that I am particularly comfortable doing)…..
Ted Savas called me this afternoon to let me know that my forthcoming book on the Battle of Monroe’s Crossroads has been chosen as an Alternate Selection by the History Book Club. None of my titles have ever had such an honor bestowed upon them previously. Needless to say, I was blown away when Ted told me the news. I was excited but humbled all at the same time. The responses that my work seems to get never cease to flatter and amaze me.
Thanks again to everyone who reads my work and spends their hard-earned money buying my books.

Congrats Eric! I’m a member of the HBC (and I don’t doubt many of your other readers fall into that category too). I think I just figured out what I’m going to do with my bonus credits… 😉

Eric,
Big-time Congratulations! I’m looking forward to that book. BTW, rumour has it that you’ll be speaking to our roundtable in Rochester Hills, MI sometime next year. If true, then I also look forward to meeting you in person!

Thanks, guys. I really appreciate it. It really surprised me, but very pleasantly so.

Yeah right, I can hear buttons popping all the way over here :).
Congrats. Late Xmas present (maybe). As you’ve said, ain’t ganna get rich, so a coupla medals would be nice…. 😉
Thanks, guys. And Dave, you’re absolutely correct. Any reward will go a long way toward persuading Susan it’s a worthy expenditure of money. 🙂

That is good news and a nice appreciation of your work. Should result in some extra sales too so your wife will like that!
I’ve always wondered what differences there are in current book club editions vs. the ‘real’ thing. The club editions are vastly discounted on the secondary market. In the past I believe some book club editions were resized (dimension-wise), but the current ones look pretty much the same to me. There was conversation about book club identification on this booksellers forum I subscribe to and they say the easiest way to recognize them is a marking (I forget what it was exactly) on one of the boards near the spine. It always reminds of the times when I tried to sell my cd club cds and the used store clerk would say they didn’t buy ‘cd club’ cds because I didn’t pay much for them in the first place…LOL.
Drew,
So far as I know, in my case, there won’t be any difference at all.
And thanks….
Eric
