Historian Paul Taylor has entered the blogging fray. Paul has launched a new blog called “With Sword and Pen”, which he describes as “A Celebration of First Edition and Collectible Books Pertaining to ‘The Late Unpleasantness'”. Imagine a site like Drew Wagenhoffer’s, only dedicated to first editions of books, including those long out of print, and you get the idea.

Welcome to the blogosphere, Paul, and good luck. I’ve added a link.

    Dear Mr Wittenberg,

(This has nothing to do with Paul Taylor’s new blog!)

I’m sorry to bother you with this, but I tried to join your American Revolution Discussion Group a little while back and something went wrong with the registration process. I am now in some sort of e-limbo in which I can neither log in, nor de-register and start again. Unfortunately, there seems to be no way of contacting anyone on the forum without logging in first, so I’m snookered (that would be stymied in American). Would you be able to point me at someone who could help me out of this predicament?

I’m intrigued by your interest in cavalry, as that is a particular hobby horse (no pun intended) of mine – in my case in relation to the American Revolution. In that respect, have you come across a chap called John T Hayes? He lives in Florida and was editing a multi-volume (11 at last count) almanac on cavalry activities in the Revolution. I was in contact with him about 5-6 years ago, when he was 84, but he suffered an illness that took him out of circulation for a while and I’ve been unable to re-establish contact.

    Many thanks for your help.

    Regards,

    Brendan Morrissey
