I sent Wayne Motts an e-mail today, asking for an update on Mike’s condition. Wayne called Mike, and here’s what he had to say in response:

Mike is back home at Fort Hood, TX which is his HQ base. He is now making appointments to see doctors. It is not known at this time whether he will have full use of his arm. He of course will have to go through rehabilitation. His future in the military at this point is uncertain. He is lucky to be alive.

At least he’s home, in one piece, and out of harm’s way. Let’s hope that he continues to improve and that he doesn’t lose the function in his arm. Get well soon, Mike.

    Eric,

Thanks for the update. I read the article in the latest CW News on Mike, and am glad he is back in the USA.

    Steve,

Me, too. Sounds like he will ultimately be okay.

Thank goodness. And hopefully his arm will be alright – he needs it to both point out sites on his tours, and to lift those beers!

Get well soon, Mike, and if you have to leave the service, I hope to see you soon back in Gettysburg. You’re a hero.

    Everyone:

I am glad you guys have supported this man. I have never met him, but he sounds like a great person.

Heroes are only important to thier peers. Every group needs to have them. To the NFL it is Pat Tillman.

When one of your own group is involved it takes on new meaning.

    Thanks

    Chris
