Word Press tells me when someone links to my blog. I saw a new incoming link that I’ve never seen before this afternoon, so I decided to check it out. The link came from another new Civil War blog that has just launched. It’s called Civil War Navy, et al., run by Andrew Duppstadt. Andrew is the Assistant Curator of Education for the North Carolina Division of State Historic Sites and is a Civil War naval reenactor. Welcome to the blogosphere, Andrew. I’ve added a link to your blog.

    Eric:
Thanks for the heads up on Andrew’s blog. I met him this weekend at the Plymouth event and I look forward to his blog. Andrews is just a 25 minute drive away in Kinston and really seems to know his navy stuff. The navy played a big part in the action at Plymouth and the reenactment reflected that. In addition to the large number of navy and marine reenactors, the battle included a US launch and a half scale replica of the CSS Albemarle which duked it out on the Roanoke. At one point the 12 pound Mountain Howitzer that I help crew (Battery H, 3rd NY Artillery) engaged the Albemarle from the river bank. Talk about a mismatch. Predictably, we didn’t last long, much to the delight of the crowd, which was naturally rooting for the home team in gray! I look forward to learning more about CW navy through Andrews’ blog.
