Please join me in welcoming Michael C. Hardy to the blogosphere. I had no idea that Michael had launched a blog until he posted a comment here. Michael has written several excellent books, most recently, the first book-lengthy study of the May 1862 Battle of Hanover Court House.

Michael’s blog deals with his native North Carolina’s role in the Civil War. Those who know me know of my love of the Old North State, and my interest in those aspects of the Late Unpleasantness that occurred there. Michael apparently launched his blog in October and didn’t tell anyone about it.

Eric – thanks for the kind words. I was not sure “blogging” was for me
when I started, so I’ve kind of kept it mum until I was sure I had
the time to keep up with it. Thanks again for the kind words.

ps – not a native North Carolinian – my family first settled here in
western North Carolina in 1771, but alas, I was born in central Florida
and did not move here until 1995. Seems to be a lot of us who are
moving back.

Michael Hardy’s a fine scholar and it’s a pleasure to see his new blog. He helped me a few years ago with an essay I was writing, and that is currently under consideration with a leading journal.
